Media Training
Researchers are sought-after experts on radio and television. They are important interview partners and explain the background in science programmes. In discussions, they make significant contributions. They have to take a stand and explain complicated issues in simple terms. Factors such as studio lighting and cameras create an unfamiliar environment.
The two-day practical media training provides basic knowledge in the field of science communication, especially for the media of television and radio. Practical exercises (statements, discussions) train communicating oriented towards target groups and appropriate to the respective medium. The use of camera equipment and the professional shooting of video by a cameraperson authentically prepares participants for typical situations in front of a running camera. Participants learn about individual strengths and weaknesses and practise how to optimise their communication and body language.
The seminar focuses on the following topics:
- Of senders and receivers – Levels of communication
- Science in the media – The world in 30 seconds
- The radio statement – Short and comprehensible
- The television message – Involving emotions
- The interview in front of the camera – Increasing media presence
- When the body speaks – Interpreting physical signals correctly
- Dealing with Critical Questions – The culture of conversation
