Presentation Skills

It is becoming increasingly important for researchers to be able to communicate their topics convincingly and comprehensibly. Often they only have a few minutes at their disposal, for example at a poster presentation at a congress or on an open day. The aim is to learn how to communicate your own research topic as concisely and comprehensibly as possible. This ranges from a technical talk for a group of colleagues to tailored messages for decision-makers.

 

In the seminar „Presentation Skills“, participants train how to optimise their presentations for the respective target group. They improve their own performance and learn how to prepare and present their content in such a way that your audience understands you. Under the guidance of the trainers, participants experience what an effective presentation can look like in numerous practical exercises. Individual feedback through video analysis aid in making participants fit for future presentations.

 

Thematic focus areas of the seminar are:

  • The core message – getting your main point across
  • Target groups – reaching the audience
  • Presentation formats, style and goal – the setting of a presentation
  • Narratives and Storytelling – telling science in an exciting way
  • Increasing attention – how to get and keep attention
  • Appearance, facial expressions and gestures – your presence on stage

 

Organisational information:

The NaWik seminar lasts two days. Generally, the seminar takes place from 9:00 to 17:00 with a lunch break and two coffee breaks. The number of participants is limited to 8. The participants will receive a certificate of attendance for successful participation.

We are happy to travel to your institution and hold our seminar on your premises. Alternatively, our seminar room on the campus of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology can be booked.
